The ban applies not only to traditional cigarettes but also to vaping devices (e-cigarettes). Officials also noted that even if an area is not marked on the map, a "No Smoking" sign indicates it is a restricted zone. Beyond the mapped areas, Belarusian legislation already prohibits smoking and vaping in several locations, including elevators and auxiliary rooms of residential buildings, children's playgrounds, vehicles with children under 14 present, health camps, educational institutions, enclosed workplaces, metro stations, public transport stops, and underground passages.

Various authorities, not just police, are empowered to issue protocols for violations of the anti-tobacco law. This includes employees of local executive committees, railway transport workers (for offenses at stations or on trains), and representatives of motor transport enterprises (for violations on buses, trolleybuses, or at bus stations). The fine for breaching these rules can be up to 4 basic units, currently equivalent to 168 Belarusian Rubles (BYN).
