New Zealand Seeks Vape Suppliers for Quit Smoking Services
Health New Zealand (Health NZ) has issued a public Request for Quotation (RFQ) to procure e-cigarette devices and nicotine pods for its 29 government-funded smoking cessation services nationwide. The procurement, announced via New Zealand’s Government Electronic Tenders Service (GETS), is for a one-time distribution to support smokers in a three-month quit attempt.
The tender specifies the need for replaceable pod-style vaping devices and nicotine pod refills. Suppliers are required to offer a variety of legally permitted flavors and a range of nicotine concentrations, from 0% up to 28.5mg/ml. The announcement also emphasizes the need for competitive pricing and a sufficient quantity of pods to support each participant for the full three-month period.
Health NZ has explicitly stated that the procurement process will be conducted in strict compliance with Article 5.3 of the World Health Organization’s Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC), ensuring public health policy remains free from tobacco industry interests. The tender was opened on October 1, 2025, and is scheduled to close on October 20, 2025.
