Russia’s Saratov Region Approves Five-Year Vape Ban
Saratov Oblast deputies approved a law on July 22 to ban the retail sale of vapes and e-liquids. This regional restriction takes effect on March 1, 2027, and will remain in place for five years to protect youth from health risks.
Regional parliament chairman Alexey Antonov explained that the ban targets the threat vapes pose to children’s health, citing risks of internal organ damage.
The legislation splits the new rules into two categories:
- Vape Retail Ban:Â A temporary, five-year suspension of all vape and e-liquid retail sales starting March 1, 2027.
- Location-Based Bans: An indefinite ban starting March 1, 2027, on selling any tobacco or nicotine-containing products—including heated tobacco devices like IQOS and disposable e-cigarettes—in designated areas.
Under the law, sales of these products are prohibited at:
- Children’s recreation camps and social service institutions.
- Stadiums and sports facilities during official competitions.
- Recreation zones, beaches, and waterfront areas.
- Places of worship and religious facilities.
These rules will remain in force until lawmakers introduce new amendments or repeal the legislation.
