Cordoba Governor Backs Colombia Vape Tax
Governor of Córdoba Erasmo Zuleta Bechara welcomed the House of Representatives’ decision to pass a bill establishing nationwide excise taxes on e-cigarettes and vaping devices during its second debate.
If enacted into law, the measure will yield approximately 500 billion Colombian pesos for the country’s departments. Governor Zuleta emphasized that these funds will directly strengthen regional social investment, focusing on public health networks, educational facilities, and community sports programs.
Zuleta praised House President Nicolás Barguil for driving the legislation forward, along with the National Federation of Departments (FND) for supporting the tax framework. The proposal now moves to the Senate of the Republic for further debate and final legislative clearance.
