The Philippine Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has suspended the sale, manufacture, and distribution of 11 vape brands for failing to comply with packaging requirements mandated by Republic Act (RA) No. 11900, also known as the Vape Law. The DTI issued a preliminary order to the brands’ manufacturers and importers, effectively prohibiting them from “manufacturing, importing, distributing, selling, and promoting all of their vaporized nicotine and non-nicotine products” until a final decision on the formal charge is rendered.

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has begun implementing regulations on Vaporized Nicotine and Non-Nicotine Products, as well as Heated Tobacco Products (HTPs), in line with DAO No. 22-06 (2022) and DAO No. 24-02 (2024). The DTI mandates businesses to obtain a valid Philippine Standard (PS) License for all covered products by December 31, 2024.

Secretary Ma. Cristina Roque of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) announced that approximately 10 companies involved in the manufacture, distribution, and sale of vape products have registered with the department in 2024. These accredited vape firms have met the standards established by the Office for the Special Mandate on Vaporized Nicotine and Non-Nicotine Products, their Devices, and Novel Tobacco Products (OSMV).
