American Airlines Vaping Passenger Alleges Assault in Police Report

American Airlines Vaping

The American Airlines passenger who was caught vaping in a lavatory during a flight from Phoenix to San Francisco has filed a police report against the flight attendant involved. The passenger, Peter Nguyen Wong, alleges that the flight attendant unlocked the lavatory door while he was inside, exposing his genitals to other passengers.

According to the report filed with police in Redlands, California, Wong claims that after the flight attendant opened the door and caught him taking one hit from a vape, she attempted to grab his phone as he recorded the interaction. He alleges she pinned him against a wall, causing pain to his left shoulder, and is seeking to have her prosecuted for assault.

Wong also claims that when he tried to board another flight the next day, an airline employee told him he had to delete the videos before being allowed to board. Since the incident went viral, he says he has received numerous messages with vulgar and aggressive language, making him concerned for his safety.

Vaping is banned on all commercial flights by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Wong was met by police upon landing in San Francisco but was released after questioning. The Redlands Police Department will forward his report to the San Francisco Police Department for further review and to determine if an investigation will be opened.
