Interim Government’s Advisory Council Takes Decision to Protect Public Health and Future Generations
The Bangladesh Ministry of Commerce will include e-cigarettes, also known as electronic nicotine delivery systems (ENDS), in the list of banned import products in its import policy order. The decision was made during a meeting of the interim government’s Advisory Council held on Thursday at the Prime Minister’s Office.
The meeting, chaired by Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, concluded that urgent measures are necessary to prohibit the import of all products related to e-cigarettes or ENDS to safeguard public health and protect future generations. The initiative to ban e-cigarette imports was proposed by the Health Services Division.
The council also discussed the draft of the “Cyber Security Ordinance, 2024,” which was presented during the meeting. However, it was decided that the draft would need to be resubmitted for final approval.
