New York, NY – In a major crackdown on the illegal sale of flavored disposable vapes, New York City Mayor Eric Adams and Corporation Counsel Sylvia O. Hinds-Radix announced today that the city has filed a lawsuit against 11 wholesalers. The defendants, located in Brooklyn, Queens, Long Island, and upstate New York, are accused of distributing youth-friendly flavored disposable vapes to retail vape and smoke shops, convenience stores, and directly to consumers over the internet, in violation of federal, state, and city laws. FDA Bans Most Flavored Cartridge-Based E-Cigarettes

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has announced a ban on most flavors of cartridge-based e-cigarettes, including fruit and mint varieties, that have not received FDA authorization through the premarket tobacco application (PMTA) process. The ban, which was announced on January 2, 2020, requires companies to cease the manufacture, distribution, and sale of these unauthorized flavored products within 30 days or risk enforcement actions from the agency.
