Georgia Postpones Fines for Unlicensed Tobacco Manufacturers Until 2026
The Parliament of Georgia has approved a draft law allowing tobacco and tobacco product manufacturers to operate without a license until January 1, 2026.
The mandatory licensing, which came into effect on January 1, 2025, requires companies to equip quality control laboratories, a process that involves additional expenses and cannot be completed within Georgia. The amendment grants businesses more time to acquire the necessary equipment without facing the 50,000 lari fine for operating without a license. The law will come into force after being signed by the president and published on the “Legislative Herald” website.
