Paraguay Deputies Approves Bill Banning Vape Sales to Minors
The Paraguay Chamber of Deputies has given half sanction to a bill that regulates the importation, production, consumption, advertising, and commercialization of vaping devices while prohibiting their sale to individuals under 18 years of age.
Dinavisa to Oversee Regulation and Sanitary Control
The approved document reveals that the National Directorate of Sanitary Surveillance (Dinavisa), under the Ministry of Public Health, will be responsible for the regulation and sanitary control of these products. Meanwhile, the National Directorate of Tax Revenue (DNIT) will have authority over the importation and exportation of vaping devices, essences, and other accessories.
Key Aspects of the Approved Bill
The bill, titled “Establishing Sanitary Measures for the Protection of People’s Health in Relation to Electronic Cigarettes and Regulating Nicotine Delivery Systems and Similar Nicotine-Free Systems,” aims to safeguard public health by imposing strict regulations on the vaping industry. In addition to the ban on sales to minors, the bill seeks to control the marketing and advertising of these products to prevent their appeal to young people.
The Chamber of Deputies’ approval of this bill marks a significant step towards creating a comprehensive legal framework for the vaping industry in the country. As the bill moves forward, it is expected to undergo further scrutiny and potential amendments before its final implementation.
