Thailand May Legalize E-Cigarettes after May
According to ENDS Cigarette Smoke Thailand (ECST), Thailand currently prohibits the use of e-cigarettes, but is discussing the end of the ban.
Thailand is reportedly set to legalize e-cigarettes by 2023 after a ban has been in place for years. The regulation of safer nicotine products will encourage more smokers to quit smoking tobacco cigarettes and reduce smoking-related deaths and diseases in the country. The approval awaits the Thai parliament’s approval. Safer nicotine products are regulated in nearly 70 countries, leading to a sharp decline in overall smoking rates. E-cigarette enthusiasts in Thailand are optimistic about the prospects of legalizing e-cigarettes.

Safer Nicotine Products to Be Regulated
Saligupta believes that the regulation of safer nicotine products will provide better protection for consumers and encourage more smokers to quit their deadly habits. The regulation will also ensure that the age of purchase of e-cigarettes for teenagers is better controlled.
According to ECST, smoking causes about 50,000 deaths in Thailand each year. Saligupta believes that lifting the ban on e-cigarettes could significantly reduce smoking-related diseases and premature deaths in the country.
