VTA Launches $1M+ Ad Campaign Urging Trump to Protect Flavored Vapes

VTA Ad Campaign

The Vapor Technology Association (VTA) has launched a major seven-figure advertising campaign across cable, broadcast, and digital networks, urging President Donald Trump and his administration to take immediate action on vaping policy. The campaign calls for a clear distinction between illicit, youth-targeting vapor products from China and the regulated, adult-focused alternatives that millions of Americans use to quit smoking cigarettes.

The ads are strategically designed to reach key decision-makers in Washington, D.C., and at President Trump’s Bedminster, N.J. golf club, airing on networks like Fox News, Newsmax, and ESPN. The VTA’s core message is that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) are currently acting against President Trump’s stated wishes to save the flavored vaping industry.

Tony Abboud, Executive Director of the VTA, stated, “VTA is calling on President Trump to take aggressive action targeting Chinese vape products that target our kids and evade FDA safety checks. But, we also urge him to keep his promise to protect the multibillion-dollar independent U.S. vaping industry… all of which are in jeopardy now.”

The VTA argues that “rogue bureaucrats” at the FDA are deputizing CBP to interdict virtually all vape products at the border, disrupting the entire independent U.S. vape distribution chain. They contend that instead of focusing on products marketed to youth with cartoon imagery, these agencies are effectively shutting down legally operating American small businesses that help adults quit smoking.

The campaign outlines several key policy priorities the VTA is pursuing with the Trump administration:

  • Collaborating with the FDA to end what they term “former President Biden’s illegal vape regulation” and replace it with a streamlined, science-based regulatory process focused on product safety.
  • Supporting targeted enforcement actions against illicit Chinese vapor products while implementing common-sense marketing restrictions.
  • Developing transparent guidelines to facilitate legal product entry into the country, protecting tens of thousands of American businesses.

The VTA asserts that its campaign reinforces a commitment to reducing youth vaping while safeguarding access to safer alternatives for adult smokers. It sends a clear message that they believe the FDA’s current actions are out of step with President Trump’s priorities and that the agency must correct its course to follow his agenda.
