Kyrgyzstan Cigarette Prices Surge 66.7% Since 2021
The average price for a pack of filtered cigarettes in Kyrgyzstan has climbed significantly, driven by new government policies aimed at controlling tobacco product costs. This price hike is part of a broader strategy that includes setting minimum prices for cigarettes, vapes, and heated tobacco items.
According to data from the National Statistics Committee, the price of cigarettes has seen a dramatic increase over the past four years:
- June 2021: Average price was 85.53 soms per pack.
- June 2025: Average price reached 142.6 soms per pack.
- Total Increase: A surge of 66.7%.
This rise is reinforced by a new government regulation approved in late 2024 that establishes minimum retail prices for tobacco and heated tobacco products. The mandated minimums are:
- From January 1, 2025: 110 soms per 20-pack.
- From January 1, 2026: 120 soms per 20-pack.
