Brazil: Anápolis Approves Ban on Vaping in Public Spaces
The Municipal Chamber of Anápolis, Brazil, has approved a bill to prohibit the use of electronic cigarettes, vaporizers, and hookahs in all collective use environments within the city, including public spaces like squares and parks. The proposal, introduced by Councilor João da Luz, was passed on Monday (12th) and will now be sent to Mayor Márcio Corrêa for sanctioning.
The bill aims to regulate the use of these popular devices. It’s noted that while hookahs are regulated by Brazil’s health authority (Anvisa), electronic cigarettes are not, and their sale is considered irregular. The new local law in Anápolis seeks to control their public consumption to protect community health.
