Vape Importers Submit Memorandum to Chief Adviser, Urging Reconsideration of E-Cigarette Ban
Industry Stakeholders Express Concern Over Potential Negative Impacts on Public Health and Economy
Vape importers, represented by Voice of Vapers, Consumer Rights of Sales Alternatives (CORSA), and Bangladesh Electronic Nicotine Delivery System Traders Association (BENDSTA), have submitted a memorandum to Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus, urging the government to reconsider its decision to ban the import of e-cigarettes and Electronic Nicotine Delivery Systems (ENDS).
The delegation delivered the memorandum to the Chief Adviser’s official residence on Saturday, expressing their deep concern over the Ministry of Commerce’s decision to add e-cigarettes and ENDS to the list of prohibited items in the Import Policy Order.
Stakeholders argue that this decision will deprive adult smokers of a less harmful alternative to quit smoking, potentially causing significant negative impacts on both public health and the economy.
Earlier on Saturday, the vape industry representatives held a human chain at Shahbagh, advocating for the government to “Reconsider the Import Ban on Harm Reduction Products to Prevent Smoking.”
The vape industry hopes that their appeal to the Chief Adviser will lead to a reevaluation of the ban, allowing for the continued availability of e-cigarettes and ENDS as a safer alternative for adult smokers seeking to quit traditional cigarettes.
