Innokin Klypse Mecha Pod Kit Review – A Unique MTL Vape
The Klypse Mecha is the latest addition to Innokin’s popular range of pod vapes. Sporting a unique watch-inspired design, adjustable power settings, and compatible with the full line of Klypse pods, it aims to provide a customizable mouth-to-lung (MTL) vaping experience.
But does this stylish pod mod deliver satisfying performance? Read on for a full hands-on review.
Overview of the Klypse Mecha Pod Mod
The Klypse Mecha stands out with its eye-catching aesthetic modeled after luxury watches. The zinc alloy frame features a clear panel displaying faux mechanical watch parts, while the firing button is designed like a spinning cog. Despite the lack of actual moving components, it’s a refreshing design approach in the pod mod world.
It uses the standard Klypse pods in 2mL capacities, included in 0.6Ω and 1.2Ω resistances for flexibility. With smart power output between 6-18W based on the coil, a 0.5” OLED screen, airflow control, and 900mAh battery, it offers considerable customizability given its slim proportions.
So the Klypse Mecha ultimately provides unique styling with potentially broad functionality – but does it deliver satisfying vapes for MTL users?
- Size: 94.2mm x 43.7mm x 20.3mm
- Weighs: 102g
- Pod Capacity: 2ml
- Draw activated
- Battery Capacity: 900mAh
- Adjustable Wattage/Voltage
- Output: 6-18W
Design and Build Quality
There’s no mistaking the Mecha for any other pod vape on the market. Its dimensions of 92 x 44 x 17mm make it relatively compact yet still easy to grip. And at a weighty 100g, it feels reassuringly robust.
The watch theme is well-executed through the choice of materials and visual design. The brushed zinc alloy frame paired with sleek front and back plastic panels give it the look of a luxury timepiece. Especially eye-catching is that front panel showcasing intricately detailed non-moving watch components under high-quality plastic, played out in an array of colors.
The spinning dial button stands out both visually and functionally, allowing easy power adjustment. And the circular OLED tucked into a faux watch face seamlessly fits the overall theme. The two color choices of Moonshadow Ink and Stardust Silver further accentuate the upscale aesthetic.
Build quality matches the sophisticated design. The zinc alloy frame feels sturdy with no flex or button rattle. The pod fits perfectly flush with strong magnets holding it securely in place. The only potential downside is the protruding dial button risks accidental firing in pockets.
So if standing out from the crowd of generic pods is a priority, the Klypse Mecha delivers unique and luxury styling very successfully.
Pod and Coil Performance
The Mecha utilizes the standard line of Klypse pods, which I’ve found reliable across Innokin’s pod devices. The 2mL pods feature easy side filling, no leaking, and a comfortable standard mouthpiece. The kit includes 0.6Ω and 1.2Ω resistances best suited for higher and lower power MTL vaping respectively.
Flavors and throat hit prove solid with 50/50 and lower strength nic salts on both included resistances when used within their smart power ranges. The 0.6Ω coil brings nice warmth at 18W, while the 1.2Ω subtly smooths out flavors at 11W maximum. Notably, the pod design causes some difficulty viewing e-liquid level.
Other Klypse coils like 0.8Ω and 1.7Ω models allow further customization, and pre-filled 1.7Ω flavors pods are cross-compatible too. So between the different resistances and smart power, most MTL vapers should find a satisfying setup, especially given the quality construction and leak resistance of the pods themselves.
Features and Ease of Use
Despite its unique exterior, the Klypse Mecha keeps features relatively simple. The aforementioned spinning dial makes changing wattage a breeze, while the bright OLED displays all essential vaping data like voltage, resistance, draw time, and even a vape puff counter. It misfires on occasion, but intuitive control remains a strong suit.
Smart power technology automatically sets wattage ranges based on the detected coil resistance, preventing burning coils by overpowering. The adjustable airflow further customizes draw tightness. And a handy integrated clock function helps keeps track of time. No adjustable temperature control or voltage curve settings here, but then again, it satisfies design goals as an easy-to-use MTL pod vape.
Charging via USB-C, I do wish quick charging was included to offset just 3-4 hour battery life. Regardless, essential features all perform well for uncomplicated MTL enjoyment.
Performance and Battery Life
With its low-powered coils in sleek zinc alloy chassis, the Mecha delivers as intended for mouth-to-lung vaping. Both included pods produce quality flavor and throat hit when used within their smart power ranges. The 0.6Ω coil brings nice warmth for tighter MTL draws, while the 1.2Ω optimizes 16 mg nic salt satisfaction.
The 900mAh battery averages around 30-45 minutes of use depending on power settings. It’s merely adequate rather than exceptional. And charging requires a full 60 minutes due to lacking higher amperage support. But for the target MTL audience, it should still get most vapers through a full day between recharges.
Verdict – A Unique MTL Pod Mod
The Klypse Mecha brings welcome innovation to pod vapes with its intricately designed watch-inspired exterior and intuitive spinning dial control. Paired with the reliably solid Klypse pod and coil system, it delivers well as an intermediate level MTL device.
A few niggles hold it back from greatness, like a merely passable battery, lack of quick charging, and no liquid level window. But if you appreciate eye-catching aesthetics with customization capabilities, the Mecha deserves strong consideration among mid-range pod mods. Just expect only average longevity between charges.
Ultimately for discerning MTL fans wanting to stand out from generic pods, the Klypse Mecha provides all-day vaping satisfaction wrapped impressively in a luxury timepiece aesthetic.
