Malaysia Pahang Urged to Ban Vape Sales & Use

Malaysia Pahang Vape Ban

The Pahang PAS Youth Wing has called on the state government to enact laws prohibiting the sale and use of electronic cigarettes (vapes) in Pahang, primarily to protect the younger generation from nicotine addiction. Youth Chief Ustaz Mohd Zarimi Abu Zih Al-Hafiz highlighted the worrying trend of widespread vape use among teenagers and students, demanding immediate action from authorities.

Mohd Zarimi described the issue as a serious threat to public health, social well-being, and the future of Pahang’s youth. He expressed concern over the open availability of nicotine-containing vape products, both online and in physical stores, without adequate control, leading to alarming usage rates among schoolchildren. He also referenced the Sultan of Pahang’s call for proactive measures to curb vaping.

The PAS Youth urged the Pahang Menteri Besar and state executive council members, particularly those in Health and Education portfolios, to emulate states like Johor, Kelantan, Terengganu, and Perlis, which have implemented vape bans. They called for strengthened enforcement, monitoring at district and community levels to prevent underage sales, and comprehensive awareness campaigns in collaboration with government departments, educational institutions, NGOs, and local communities. Zarimi emphasized that such efforts align with Islamic principles of preserving life and morals.
