Indonesia’s Finance Minister Raises E-Cigarette Prices Starting 2025
Sri Mulyani Indrawati Issues Regulation to Control Tobacco Consumption and Protect Labor-Intensive Industries
Indonesia’s Minister of Finance, Sri Mulyani Indrawati, has officially issued a regulation setting minimum retail selling price limits for e-cigarettes and other tobacco processing products. The regulation, known as Minister of Finance Regulation (PMK) Number 96 of 2024, will take effect on January 1, 2025.
The issuance of this regulation aims to control the consumption of tobacco products, protect labor-intensive tobacco industries that use non-machine production processes, and increase state revenue. According to the appendix of the regulation, the government has set an increase in the retail selling price of e-cigarettes, despite no increase in excise tariffs.
New E-Cigarette and Tobacco Product Prices
The minimum retail selling prices for e-cigarettes and other tobacco processing products are as follows:
E-Cigarette Prices
- Solid E-Cigarette Price: Rp 6,240 per gram, an increase of 6.01%
- Open System Liquid E-Cigarette Price: Rp 1,368 per milliliter, an increase of 22.03%
- Closed System Liquid E-Cigarette Price: Rp 41,983 per cartridge, an increase of 5.99%
Other Tobacco Processing Products
- Molasses Tobacco: Rp 257 per gram, an increase of 6.19%
- Snuff Tobacco: Rp 257 per gram, an increase of 6.19%
