Kyrgyzstan to Ban E-Cigarette Imports for Six Months
The Kyrgyzstan government is taking decisive action against vaping by proposing a temporary ban on the import of e-cigarettes and related nicotine products. The Cabinet of Ministers has prepared a draft resolution that would halt all imports for a six-month period. This document is currently open for public discussion before finalization.
Details of the Proposed Vape Ban
The primary goal of this measure is to enforce the national law “On protecting the health of citizens from the consequences of tobacco and nicotine consumption.” The government aims to curb the rising use of nicotine products among its population.
The proposed ban specifically targets:
- All-in-one electronic cigarettes and disposable vape devices.
- Nicotine-containing liquids, whether in pre-filled cartridges, pods, or standalone bottles intended for use in vaping systems.
To ensure compliance, the country’s Customs and Border Services will be tasked with preventing any illegal importation of these goods. The Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will also be required to formally notify international bodies, including the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC), about the trade restriction.
