North Dakota House Rejects Proposal to Raise Taxes on Cigarettes and Vaping Products
The North Dakota House has once again voted down a bill that aimed to increase taxes on cigarettes and vaping products. Senate Bill 2281, which proposed a 25-cent tax hike on cigarettes and additional taxes on vaping products, was rejected by House lawmakers.
Rep. Ty Dressler, R-Richardton, criticized the bill, calling it a “sin tax” that disproportionately impacts those who can least afford it. This marks the second time this legislative session that the House has killed a similar proposal for higher taxes on tobacco products.
