Pakistan Mirpur District Bans Vapes, Hookah Pens, and Tar Ice
The district administration of Mirpur, AJK, imposed an immediate ban on the sale and use of various latest smoking items, including vapes, hookah pens, and tar ice, on Monday. Deputy Commissioner Yasar Riaz Chaudhry ordered the ban in response to recommendations from the Deputy Drug Controller and State Health authorities.
The authorities stated that these products contain nicotine and other harmful substances, often used as alternatives to cigarettes, posing serious health risks. The administration warned that anyone found violating the prohibited orders would face immediate legal action, with no excuse.
The decision aims to protect public health, particularly youth, from nicotine addiction and related life-threatening diseases. The district authorities told APP that the ban is a proactive measure to safeguard the well-being of the community and prevent the spread of harmful smoking habits.
