Thailand: Police Seize Over 559,000 Illegal Vapes Worth 90 Million Baht
Police and excise officials in Thailand have seized over 559,000 illegal e-cigarettes and related parts, with an estimated value of 90 million baht, in a major warehouse raid in Saraburi province. The operation was part of a joint effort to trace the source of illicit vapes being sold to youth in Bangkok.
Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau Commissioner, Pol Lt Gen Trairong Phiewphan, announced the seizure at a press conference on Wednesday. He explained that officials had been working closely with the Excise Department and tracked a suspected pickup truck to a warehouse in Wiharn Daeng district, Saraburi, on Tuesday morning.
During the raid, the suspects inside the warehouse managed to flee. A subsequent search of the premises, conducted with local officials, uncovered the massive haul of unlawful vape items. The seized goods included 138,680 disposable INFY vapes, 40,800 disposable Escobar vapes, and 374,000 pod heads for INFY devices.
Trairong confirmed that authorities are now working to track down the owners of the warehouse and the illicit products to pursue legal action. The operation highlights a significant crackdown on the illegal vape trade in the country.
