Belarus Moves to Ban Vape and E-Cigarette Advertising Under New Bill
The Belarusian Ministry of Health has initiated a new bill to completely ban the advertising of electronic smoking systems and tobacco heating devices, marking a significant escalation in the country’s tobacco control policies. Announced by Olga Bartman of the Republican Center for Hygiene, Epidemiology, and Public Health, the draft legislation expands previous restrictions that only covered e-liquids and traditional tobacco.
Beyond advertising, the bill introduces several key regulatory measures to curb consumption:
- Production Controls: New licensing, equipment, and labeling requirements for nicotine products.
- Expanded Bans: Prohibiting smoking at the common entrances of residential buildings and dormitories.
- Adult Liability: Increased penalties for selling to minors, alongside new punishments for adults who purchase vapes or cigarettes on behalf of teenagers.
Public health officials have been actively monitoring existing smoke-free zones since early 2026 to assess whether further enforcement measures are required once the bill passes.
