Magnolia Commissioner Proposes Ordinance to Ban Vape Shops
Magnolia Town Commissioner Eric Graham has called for a local ordinance to ban vape shops from operating within town limits. This legislative push follows a series of high-profile law enforcement raids across North Carolina targeting illicit drug sales and underage vaping access.
Graham raised the issue during the May Town Hall meeting, citing “Operation Wintergreen”—a three-month investigation in Kinston, NC. The operation resulted in multiple raids on convenience stores and vape shops, leading to arrests and the seizure of cash and illegal drugs.
His concerns were further solidified during the 2026 City Vision Conference, which featured workshops on youth vaping risks and statewide enforcement. Graham specifically highlighted the dangers of underage access to THC-related products and associated health risks.
While no formal ordinance has been adopted yet, any proposed ban will require public hearings and regulatory reviews before becoming law in Magnolia.
