Russia Delays Transport Stop Vape Sales Ban to Sept 2026
The Russian government has approved a delay in the implementation of a ban on the sale of tobacco and vaping products at public transport stops. Originally scheduled for March 1, 2026, the new regulations are now set to take effect in September 2026. This six-month postponement, approved by a government commission on December 1st following Ministry of Health amendments, aims to provide businesses with additional time to adapt.
Once enforced, the law will prohibit kiosks and shops located near bus stops, railway platforms, and metro stations from selling tobacco products, electronic cigarettes, hookahs, and related devices. However, a crucial exception is included: the ban will not apply if the retail outlet at the stop is the sole vendor of such products within an entire settlement. This exemption is designed to mitigate the impact on residents of small and remote villages where alternative purchase options do not exist.
