Tajikistan Bans Use, Production, and Sale of Electronic Cigarettes
Tajikistan has enacted a comprehensive ban on the use, production, and distribution of electronic cigarettes (vapes). The decision was announced during the fourth session of the Majlisi Milli by Chairman Rustam Emomali, who emphasized the critical need to protect public health and prevent the negative consequences of vaping, particularly among youth and adolescents.
This legislative move responds to alarming findings from medical experts linking excessive e-cigarette use to serious health issues, including respiratory problems, cardiovascular diseases, and cancer. The ban reflects growing concern over the impact of vapes on the population, especially the younger generation. The World Health Organization (WHO) notes that teenagers use vapes nine times more frequently than adults.
Tajikistan joins a growing list of nations, such as Mexico, implementing strict measures against electronic cigarettes, highlighting a global trend towards tighter control over nicotine products to safeguard public health.
