Warner Robins Pauses New Vape Shop Licenses for 6 Months
The Warner Robins City Council has unanimously approved a six-month moratorium on issuing licenses for new businesses primarily selling vape, CBD, and tobacco products. This pause, effective immediately through June 2, 2026, aims to give city officials time to review and update ordinances governing these establishments.
Councilman Kevin Lashley, who introduced the resolution, highlighted the proliferation of vape shops in the city as a key concern. “Seeing the development of these… particularly the vape stores… we have about 800 of them out there,” Lashley remarked, expressing surprise at their numbers despite observing low foot traffic. Mayor LaRhonda Patrick clarified the official count, stating there are currently 39 licensed vape stores in Warner Robins, excluding convenience stores that also sell vape products.
The moratorium reflects growing public concern regarding the density of vape-related businesses. Councilman Derek Mack noted that the council has “heard the cry of the public about the many vape shops” and is taking action to address it. Pending applications submitted before the moratorium are exempt.
