Indonesia Strengthens Vape Regulations at PPEI Conference
The 2025 National Conference (Munas) of the Indonesian Eliquid Producers Association (PPEI) has concluded with a strong consensus on the need to fortify vape regulations through enhanced collaboration between the government and industry players. The event brought together policymakers from key bodies, including the Ministry of Industry, Directorate General of Customs and Excise, and the National Narcotics Agency (BNN), to chart the future of the sector.
Under the theme “The Future of the Vape Industry,” discussions centered on ensuring sustainable development amidst an increasingly complex regulatory landscape. Merrijanti Punguan Pintaria, Director at the Ministry of Industry, stressed that industry sustainability hinges on consistent, high-quality production standards and regulatory compliance. “Business actors must maintain solidarity and commit to safe and high-quality production standards,” she stated.
Arie Kusuma from the Directorate General of Taxes highlighted PPEI’s strategic role as a communication bridge, facilitating clearer understanding of regulations for producers while providing the government with direct industry feedback. Meanwhile, the BNN focused on supporting young entrepreneurs, with advisor Andrika Imanuel noting that their innovation is crucial for a “healthier and more modern development” of the industry. The conference positioned PPEI as a central forum for navigating future regulatory dynamics and strengthening policy direction.
