Israel Proposes New Taxes on Vapes in 2026 Budget
Israel is planning to introduce new taxes and regulations for the e-cigarette and tobacco alternatives market as part of its 2026 draft budget proposal. The measures, revealed in a draft from the Ministry of Finance, are expected to significantly impact the cost of vaping for many Israeli citizens.
According to the news site N12, the proposal outlines a two-part taxation plan for vaping products. It includes a fixed tax of NIS 1 per milliliter of vaping liquid and a separate fixed tax of NIS 30 on vaping devices that function as e-cigarettes. This represents a major step towards formalizing the regulation and taxation of the country’s growing vape market.
The draft budget, which includes various other fiscal measures, is expected to be presented to the government for discussion soon. If enacted, these new taxes would make both the hardware and the consumables for vaping more expensive, aligning with a global trend of using fiscal policy to regulate nicotine products.
