Virginia’s Vape Enforcement Act: Licensing & Directory Requirements
Virginia lawmakers, led by Attorney General Jay Jones, have introduced the Vape Enforcement Act to crack down on illicit nicotine sales to minors. The new legislation mandates that all vape retailers obtain a license from the Virginia ABC and exclusively sell products listed in an approved state directory. This move aims to close existing regulatory loopholes that have allowed sellers to operate with minimal oversight.
Attorney General Jones emphasized that the primary goal is to eliminate youth exposure to unregulated products. By codifying these requirements into state law, Virginia intends to hold non-compliant retailers accountable. “If you are selling a product that is not legal, you will be held to account,” Jones stated, framing the initiative as a critical step for future health outcomes and children’s safety.
